White Tea

Organic white tea is used in our balancing balm.  White tea is the least processed of all tea varieties. It is made from leaves and buds of the plant Camellia Sinensis that are plucked the day before they open. The leaves are then simply arranged and sun-dried, without being processed. Fermenting the leaves for black tea and drying the leaves for green tea reduces the amount of catechins in the final product. However, in white tea, the young leaves and buds are left unprocessed or steamed immediately after picking. Since white tea extract has a higher catechin content than other tea, it also has higher antioxidant value.

White tea, with it’s high levels of antioxidants, protect the body against free radicals that cause oxidative damage. It also contains high amounts of anti-bacterial and anti-ageing properties that help prevent wrinkles and sagging skin”. It revitalises your skin and prevents premature ageing

All skin contains matrix metalloproteinases (MMP), an enzyme that gobbles up the collagen and elastin that keeps our skin looking young. Small amounts of MMP in younger skin is healthy, however as we age the amount of MMP in the skin increases resulting in visible signs of ageing. Applying white tea extract to the skin inhibits the activity of the MMP enzyme, so collagen and elastin can continue performing their task of maintaining your skin’s appearance.
